Spring Construction: Coming Soon!

Back in the fall, I was working with many clients towards a “spring start” on their construction projects. A few of them are preparing or are underway, so I thought I’d do some introductions to these exciting projects! Let me know what you think!

A home located on a corner lot made for a tricky incorporation of this addition. The homeowner wanted to keep the single car garage, move the laundry up from the basement, add a office nook and a generous master-suite bath and walk in closets. We were careful to select materials and overall proportions in keeping with the existing house including brick and similar-sized windows.

A unique home came along with property these homeowners purchased on the edge of West Virginia and Maryland. Intrigued by the SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels), complete with construction guide, they decided to preserve “the Rotunda” (a wonderful room constructed with 27 pie-shaped wedges in the roof) but wanted to update the house branching off of it. By emphasizing “the hyphen” between the circle and the square parts of the home, we created a dramatic renovation that compliments the Rotunda with a modern panelized look.

This classic mid-century modern home has great bones and a fun floor plan. The split level home has a main-level master, a fairly open living space and four bedrooms at the lower level. The main entrance between these 2 floors is awkward both inside and out and the homeowner was looking to freshen-up curb appeal for the home, too. We’re imagining new windows, new stone cladding on the existing retaining walls and an opening up the main level even more to look out at the terrace and yard.

This is just a taste of what’s to come for this new construction season and I can’t wait to see what else it has in store for me and for you too!
