A Year in Social Media
It was fun to look back on 2019 via my social media to see the highlights. Looking back at analytics for the year, I was surprised that it wasn’t any one of my projects that garnered the most activity, but my time out in the community that gained more clicks and comments.
That being said, I’m not surprised to see one of my top posts on Facebook had to do with volunteering in the schools. Back in September, my colleague Kerri Ann Kite and I represented Architecture at the “Worlds of Work” Career Expo. It was gratifying to introduce to so many students in such a short period of time a snapshot of what we do as designers. I hope to hear back from some of these 7th graders as they get more serious about their career choices in high school.
The Winchester Star Awards are hugely popular. Being an annual event and a large one for our community, there’s no wonder this particular post blew up all my social media platforms! Understanding this, I appreciate the opportunity I had to be on the ballot all the more. Thank you.
And now, we move to Instagram:
I love that Bob Ross got the most second-most attention on Instagram (after the “Worlds of Work” post, of course). An afternoon visit to see 27 of his paintings helped me enormously to put everything into perspective. And honestly, who doesn’t love Bob Ross?
The final big posts on both Instagram and Facebook had to do with the relaunch of my website. A lot of work went not only into the re-vamping of the website (projects first!), but to the tremendous amount of work behind each of them. Each project and it’s story and it’s people, means so much to me.
The lesson I learn from looking back is to continue the good work that I do: reaching out within my community to help students, homeowners, business-owners and colleagues learn, live, work and play in the best spaces that they can.
Also, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing without YOU and that means so much to me. Thank you again for your love and support shown through likes, comments, shares and reaction to my posts over the year. I look forward to sharing more of my journey in 2020.
Happy New Year.
